The most effective way to use designs with the Viking Husqvarna Designer series
machines is to prepare the data in DISK MANAGER, one of the programs received
with the purchase of the Viking computer embroidery programs.
First, choose designs that fit within the machine sewing field size of 150mm x 240mm
or 5.90 inches x 9.44 inches. Designs in either .hus/Viking format or .dst/Tajima
format can be opened in DISK MANAGER. After the design is open, click the button on
the toolbar that allows writing a design to a high-density floppy disk.
During the transfer process, the .hus/Viking format or .dst/Tajima format file
is converted to the machine format of .shv/large sewing field size Viking format,
and written to a 3.5 floppy disk. Next, insert this disk into a Designer series
machine for stitching out.
Preparing the data in other Viking programs appears to insert needle drops into the
jump information of the design. This produces stitch down lines. Additionally, design data
may become corrupted when you save a design after changing its colors. Using DISK MANAGER
to prepare the design data appears to be a more effective way for transferring data
to a floppy disk for stitching out.
If resizing is necessary, consider investing in Dakota Sizer or Dakota AlphaSizer.
After the design(s) are resized, save to .hus/Viking format or .dst/Tajima format.
Bring the design up in DISK MANAGER and save to a floppy disk for stitching out.
