Many writers of programs have included the ability to read commercial formats
such as Tajima/.dst. This is a real plus and gives users access to the use of
many more available designs.
Tajima/.dst format is a very dependable commercial format that has been around
for a very long time, even before the age of combining computers, as we know them,
with embroidery. Tajima/.dst format has 'color change stop' information in it.
It does not have the ability to save RGB (red, green, blue) color values at the
color changes. Therefore, the colors the design appears in on-screen are default
shades the computer assigns to a 'color change' to help identify what stitches out in
the color change. Using the coloring capabilities in the specific embroidery software
program, color the design(s) following the color text information. Perform a SAVE
(go to FILE, SAVE AS) to convert the design to the specific format (language) of
the embroidery machine.
When the saved/converted design is reopened, and if the format chosen has the ability
to save RGB values as most home formats do, the design will appear on-screen in the
assigned colors. Also, the color names/numbers will appear at the embroidery machine
if the machine includes that capability.
