General Search Tips & Information

1. The Search function on this site is designed to specifically search for designs by keyword or filenumber only, and not for content on any of the site pages.
   
   
2. The use of plurals (cars, airplanes, etc.) may greatly reduce the number of relevant matches. Use singular keywords to keep your search optimally inclusive.
   
   
3. Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) do not work with this search. Please search on one keyword at a time. However, some keywords may be multiple words, e.g. "hot rod" and "sewing machine" are valid keywords.
   
   
4. You may want to search on more than one keyword referring to the same item, e.g. "truck" and "pickup," on subsequent searches.
   
   

Advanced Search Instructions

1. The Advanced Filenumber search allows you to enter up to five filenumbers at a time and search on all of them.
   
   
2. The Advanced Keyword search now allows you to intelligently filter your search and find the exact design to fit your specific requirements. The filters are as follows:
   
   

• Exact Matches Checking this box will return only exact keyword matches. For example, the keyword 'owl' will normally return designs with keywords 'owl,' 'bowl,' and 'fowl.' By using the Exact Matches filter, only 'owl's will be returned.
  
  
• Design Category By choosing a particular Category, you will limit your search to a particular section of our catalog. A search on 'owl' in the 'Wildlife' category will not return any 'owl's in the 'Mascots' category.
  
  
• Specialty Pack Similar to the Design Category filter, the Specialty Pack filter will only return matches found in a particular Specialty Pack. The Design Category and Specialty Pack filters are exclusive of each other.
  
  
• Width & Height Ranges If you need a design whose size fits inside a specific size window, you can enter the dimensional window that you need that design to fit. If you just need a design that is less than 6" in width, you can just enter 6 in the Width High box. The search will assume zeros for empty boxes.
  
  
• Sewing Field This filter is only present if you are logged into your account. Your online profile contains the maximum width and height of your sewing field. This filter will return only designs with both width and height dimensions less than or equal to the maximum width and height of your sewing field. The Range filters and Sewing Field filters are mutually exclusive. You must use one or the other, or neither filter.
  
  
• Rotate Designs If your machine's software allows you to rotate designs so that you can sew out a 5"W x 10"H design as 10"W x 5"H, then check this box to retrieve designs whose reverse dimensions also fit your sewing field. This filter can only be used in conjunction with the Sewing Field filter.
  
  
• New Designs This filter allows you to limit your searches to just the designs that have been added to the Dakota Collectibles catalog for the first time this calendar year.
